On January 30, 2025, Rep. Menendez expressed his condolences regarding a tragic incident involving a crash of Flight 5342 and a U.S. Army Helicopter at DCA. He stated: "Devastating to hear of the crash of Flight 5342 and a U.S. Army Helicopter at DCA. My thoughts are with the victims, their families, and everyone impacted by this tragedy." He also thanked first responders for their efforts.
Later that day, he announced funding for community improvements: "Proud to join @EastNewarkBoro Mayor Grilo in presenting $500K for the East Newark Recreation Center! This funding will support much-needed improvements and enhance the overall experience for our community." This contribution aims to upgrade facilities at the recreation center.
Additionally, Menendez highlighted educational advancements within his district by noting an increase in enrollment at Hudson County Community College (HCCC).
