Rep. Rob Menendez, currently serving in the U.S. Congress representing New Jersey’s 8th district, has been vocal on social media regarding recent immigration enforcement actions and policies. He replaced former U.S. Congress member Albio Sires in 2023 and has a background in law with degrees from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill and Rutgers University-Newark.

On January 23, 2025, Rep. Menendez addressed comments made by the president concerning mass deportations and ICE raids. He stated: "When the president talks about mass deportations and ICE raids, he's talking about our friends, neighbors and family - sons, daughters, mothers, and fathers." Menendez expressed pride in standing with his colleagues from the Hispanic Caucus against what he described as harmful attacks.

The following day, January 24, 2025, Menendez responded to reports of an ICE raid conducted in Newark. He tweeted: "My team and I are aware of concerning reports of an ICE raid conducted in Newark today..." He emphasized his commitment to working with local officials to gather more information and encouraged people to stay informed about their rights during such interactions.

Later that day on January 24, Rep. Menendez reiterated his support for the diverse community of Newark alongside fellow representative LaMonica McIver. In his tweet he mentioned: ".@CityofNewarkNJ is an inclusive community with people from all different backgrounds..." Criticizing efforts by the Trump administration to instill fear within communities, he affirmed solidarity with residents.
