The Bayonne Public Library advised residents that the main library at 31st Street and Avenue C will close for renovations during the summer, effective Monday, June 5, 2023. According to Interim Library Director Melody Scagnelli-Townley, “We will need to close our 31st St. library again, so that our boiler system can be completely deconstructed, removed, and replaced, and our elevator cab can be deconstructed and replaced.” She explained, “Unfortunately, these projects will take a long time and will be quite disruptive to our services. The 31st St. library will close again to the public on Monday, June 5, with Saturday, June 3 being its last day open to the public until the autumn. Once the 31st St. location closes for the summer, the temporary Story Court branch will be open the typical Monday to Thursday, 9:00 a.m. to 9:00 p.m., and Friday and Saturday, 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. hours, except holidays.”
