On April 3, 2025, Menendez tweeted about his dissatisfaction with the current administration's trade policy. He referred to the policy as a calamity, urging Republicans to oppose it. He wrote: "This is a complete disaster. @HouseDemocrats will fight back, but Republicans need to grow a spine and speak out against Trump’s unhinged trade policy."

On the same day, Menendez expressed concerns over the economic impact of tariffs. He warned that these tariffs might lead to price increases and intensify the existing affordability issues, potentially leading to a recession. Menendez shared his view that the effects will disproportionately impact ordinary citizens, while the wealthy, specifically mentioning Musk, will remain unaffected. His tweet read: "Domestically, these tariffs will likely increase prices for Americans, intensify the affordability challenge so many are facing, and increase the likelihood of a recession. The only folks who will get through this unscathed are the ultra wealthy like Musk."

Additionally, on April 3, 2025, Menendez highlighted the personal impact of current deportation policies through the story of Adriana, a person affected by the mass deportation efforts under the administration. Menendez described the situation as "heart-wrenching" and emphasized the cruel nature of such policies. The tweet conveyed a commitment to aiding Adriana and her family. He wrote: "Adriana’s story is heart-wrenching - but one that must be heard. She is one of the many faces of Trump’s mass deportation efforts, highlighting the cruelty and lawlessness of this Administration. Our office will continue to do everything we can to help her and her family."
