Rep. Rob Menendez, currently serving in the U.S. Congress representing New Jersey’s 8th district, shared his views on significant national and regional issues through a series of tweets. Menendez, who succeeded Albio Sires in 2023, expressed his commitment to equality, infrastructure development, and gun violence prevention.
On December 13, 2024, Rep. Menendez voiced support for the Equal Rights Amendment alongside Senator Kirsten Gillibrand and others. He stated, "Every American deserves equal protection under the law—no exceptions. I stand with @gillibrandny and my colleagues calling on President Biden to certify the #EqualRightsAmendment. This is a chance to cement equality into our Constitution and make history. Let's get it done!"
Later that day, he highlighted a legislative achievement benefiting his constituents in New Jersey's 8th District. Menendez remarked on the passage of the Water Resources Development Act: "This week’s passage of the Water Resources Development Act is a major win for NJ’s 8th District! From reducing flood risks to strengthening ports, these key investments will enhance our infrastructure and resilience. Proud to fight for our region’s future."
On December 14, 2024, Menendez commemorated the anniversary of the Sandy Hook Elementary School tragedy by advocating for gun control measures. He reflected on this somber occasion with a call to action: "Today, we remember the heartbreaking tragedy at Sandy Hook Elementary School, where 26 innocent lives were lost. As we honor their memory, we must recommit to ending gun violence and fighting for common-sense reforms to protect our children and our communities."
