WASHINGTON, D.C. – Congressman Rob Menendez released the following statement after the passage of H.R. 3935, the Securing Growth and Robust Leadership in American Aviation Act through the House Transportation and Infrastructure Committee:
“The Securing Growth and Robust Leadership in American Aviation Act is not just an investment in the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) but also in resilient aviation infrastructure, growing the aviation workforce, and improving the flying experience for all Americans, including those with disabilities. This legislation includes key provisions to protect consumers and workers, maintain safety standards, foster innovation.
“During our work on this legislation, I fought for our Eighth District priorities by introducing amendments to address the disruption of air tours on our communities at recreational areas and to improve the safety of our airport workers. I’m proud that provisions of my bipartisan bill, the Airline Employee Assault Prevention Act, were included in the legislation. And I look forward to advancing additional key provisions with Chairman Sam Graves and Ranking Member Rick Larsen. Additionally, I am glad to see my bipartisan effort with Congressman Rudy Yakym to create a more robust framework for commercial drone use be included as well.
“I was honored to contribute to this groundbreaking bipartisan bill as a member of the Subcommittee on Aviation and proud to vote in support of the bill’s passage. I look forward to seeing this bill come to the floor for consideration, so we can improve the lives of our workers, invest in our airports, and strengthen protections for airline customers.”
