The 16th Street Pool is getting an upgrade – a new liner is being installed at the Olympic size pool.

Mayor Jimmy Davis has announced that the Mayor G. Thomas DiDomenico Municipal Pool will open for the summer season, beginning Saturday, June 17th, through Labor Day, Monday, September 4th, as weather permits.

The pool is located on West 16th Street, west of Avenue A, on the upper level of DiDomenico-16th Street Park.

All spray parks are scheduled to be open Memorial Day.

Hours of Operation:

Saturday, June 17th & Sunday, June 18th

Saturday, June 17th - ** Please note: the Pool will open at 1:00pm on Saturday, June 17th and close at 7:00pm. Admission into the pool will close at 6:00pm.  Those who already entered the pool must be out of the water at 6:30pm. 

Sunday, June 18th - The pool will open from 10:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m.

  • Important:  Admission into the pool will close at 4:30pm.  Those who already entered the pool must be out of the water at 5:00pm. 
The Pool will not be open on Monday, June 19th, Tuesday, June 20th, Wednesday, June 21st.

Thursday, June 22nd to Tuesday, July 4th:

The pool will open 10:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m.

  • Important:  Admission into the pool will close at 4:30pm.  Those who already entered the pool must be out of the water at 5:00pm. 
Beginning Wednesday, July 5th and ending Friday, August 11th:

The pool will be closed to the public on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays, from 9:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m., to allow City Day Camps access.

  • The pool will open at 1:00. p.m. on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays and close at 5:30pm.
  • Important:  Admission into the pool will close at 4:30pm.  Those who already entered the pool must be out of the water at 5:00pm. 
  • The pool will open 10:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m., on Sundays, Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Saturdays
  • Important:  Admission into the pool will close at 4:30pm.  Those who already entered the pool must be out of the water at 5:00pm.
Saturday, August 12th – Monday, September 4th

  • The pool will open 10:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m., Sunday through Saturday. 
  • Important:  Admission into the pool will close at 4:30pm.  Those who already entered the pool must be out of the water at 5:00pm.
Only Bayonne residents are permitted into the pool.  Out of town guests are prohibited.

After-hour parties will only be available to BAYONNE non-profit organizations for use.  Availability will be limited.  Private parties are prohibited.

Birthday Parties:  Parties are limited to two hours.  Party Hours:  10:30am to 12:30pm, 1:00pm to 3:00pm, and 3:30pm to 5:30pm.  Availability will be limited.  You may reserve a time slot by calling the pool at 201-858-6159. 

Senior Swim: Tuesdays & Thursdays, 9:30 a.m. to 10:30 a.m.

Pete Amadeo, Recreation Superintendent, stated that the daily admission fees for this year will be children 12 years old and under – $3.00, 13-64 years old – $5.00, and seniors, age 65 and above -$1.00.

There is no time limit once entering the pool. 

You must have a City of Bayonne ID to enter the facility for the regular admission fee.

City ID Cards - Hours to get City ID:

City IDs are available at City Hall, Monday through Friday, from 9am to 4pm, in City Hall Room #13 until Thursday, June 15th.

City ID's will be issued at the 16th Street Pool only – Saturday, June 17th (1-6pm) & Sunday, June 18th, (10:30am to 5:30pm) (Id’s will not be available on June 19th, June 20th, June 21st)

Beginning Thursday, June 22nd, you can get a City ID Card, Sunday through Saturday, from 10am to 4pm. 

***ID's will resume at City Hall on Tuesday, September 7th.

Any Bayonne resident who does not possess a City of Bayonne ID will be charged $10.00 if he or she can provide proof of Bayonne residency.

The fee for a Bayonne Resident ID is $10.00.

Please bring two proofs of residency when applying for the City ID Card.

The city also offers seasonal passes for families of four (including parents/guardians and children under age 17) for $200, and each additional child is $15. Seasonal passes for individual children 12 years and under cost $25; for people 13-64 years, $100; and seniors 65 years old and above, $40.

Any child who is a Bayonne resident can present a Bayonne school ID and will be charged a regular admission fee. Anyone with a current driver’s license or non-driver motor vehicle ID card that shows a Bayonne address will be admitted for $10.

The pool will be shut down in the event of inclement weather. Pool patrons can confirm pool closings by calling the Recreation hotline at 201-471-7590, or by visiting the Recreation Division website at www.leaguelineup.com/bayonnerec, or by visiting the City of Bayonne’s Facebook page, The City of Bayonne.

For safety reasons, please note that no flotation devices are allowed in the pool. That means, the City of Bayonne does not allow pool patrons to wear swimmies, tubes, puddle jumpers, or similar products.
