Cost of college went up for all students at Hudson County Community College

In-state tuition and fees rose 4.4 percent for 2018-19 at Hudson County Community College, according to recent data from the U.S. Department of Education.

New Jersey residents paid $9,978 to attend the two-year public institution this year – $420 more than the $9,558 charged for 2017-18.

Non-resident students would have paid 40.6 percent more than residents this year, or $14,028. Non-resident tuition and fees grew 4.5 percent from $13,428 in 2017-18.

About 99 percent of the school's undergraduate population are New Jersey residents.

Data shows 80 percent of full-time undergraduates who started school in 2015-16 received student financial aid in some form. In all, 1,329 students received grants or scholarships totaling $7.3 million and 118 students took out student loans totaling more than $517,262.

Including all undergraduates (8,408), 5,543 students used grants or scholarships totaling $27.1 million, and 773 students took out $3.9 million in federal student loans.
