Menendez, who has been serving since 2023 after succeeding Albio Sires, addressed topics ranging from respect in Congress to honoring Transgender Day of Remembrance and celebrating President Biden’s birthday.
On November 19, 2024, Rep. Menendez emphasized the importance of treating all members of Congress with respect and dignity. He stated, “To be clear, the voters of Delaware sent Sarah McBride here to be their voice in Congress and she should be treated with respect and dignity by all Members of Congress.” He highlighted the need for inclusivity within the chamber for Americans from diverse backgrounds.
On November 20, 2024, he commemorated Transgender Day of Remembrance by honoring victims and survivors of anti-transgender hate crimes. He tweeted, “On Transgender Day of Remembrance, we honor the victims and survivors of anti-transgender hate crimes and mourn those we’ve lost to violence.” Menendez called for continued efforts towards a world where everyone can live authentically without fear or harm.
Later that day, Rep. Menendez extended birthday wishes to President Biden while expressing gratitude for collaboration on infrastructure projects. In his tweet he said: “Happy Birthday @POTUS! It’s been an honor to work with your Administration to deliver wins for our district and @NJGov especially the advancement of the Gateway Program.”
