Rep. Rob Menendez, a U.S. Congressman representing New Jersey’s 8th district since 2023, has raised concerns about federal immigration enforcement practices and environmental protection efforts in recent social media posts.
On December 10, 2025, Menendez posted on X: “Just joined @RepDanGoldman & @RepEspaillat in demanding answers from DHS after local police officers were injured responding to 911 calls about masked, plain-clothed, armed men dragging people from cars… who turned out to be ICE agents. This is unacceptable. ICE must follow https://t.co/rAm5jD6fQz”.
The following day, December 11, he addressed water quality issues in New Jersey: “New Jerseyans know the dangers of polluted water, and we know there’s still work to do to keep our waterways clean. Yet House Republicans refused to consider my amendment to ensure their bill wouldn’t harm water quality in our estuaries. Our communities deserve better than https://t.co/zRdiC9xx8x”.
Later that same day, Menendez criticized former President Trump’s Department of Homeland Security: “Trump’s DHS doesn’t care if you served our country or are a U.S. citizen. All they care about is inflating deportation stats, and they’ll say anything to cover it up when pressed. https://t.co/4j7nCoiajn”.
Rob Menendez was born in Hudson County, New Jersey in 1985 and currently resides in Jersey City. He graduated from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill with a BA in 2008 and earned his JD from Rutgers University-Newark in 2011.
His comments come amid ongoing debates over federal immigration enforcement tactics and legislative actions affecting environmental policy. As the representative for New Jersey’s 8th District—a position he has held since succeeding Albio Sires—Menendez continues to highlight issues impacting his constituents through public statements and legislative initiatives.
