U.S. Representative Rob Menendez, who serves New Jersey’s 8th district, announced on February 10, 2026, that over $19 million in federal funding will be allocated to Hudson, Essex, and Union Counties for community-driven projects.
In a tweet posted at 14:42 UTC, Menendez stated: “HUGE NEWS: Over $19M is coming to Hudson, Essex, and Union Counties for community-led projects!! These investments will help update critical infrastructure, bolster public safety, and more.
I came to Congress with a mission to work alongside local leaders to deliver federal”.
Later the same day at 15:04 UTC, Menendez addressed concerns about immigration enforcement under the Trump Administration by highlighting the case of a local family. He wrote: “A father – married to a U.S. citizen – picking up diapers for his kids in Kearny.
That is who the Trump Administration thinks is a threat to our communities. The Soto family doesn’t deserve this cruel and heartless treatment – no one does.
This is why we are fighting to end”.
At 18:40 UTC on February 10, Menendez also expressed gratitude towards the Hudson County Chamber of Commerce for organizing an informational event related to immigration enforcement. He tweeted: “Community is how we keep our communities safe.
Grateful to @GOHudsonChamber for holding this virtual ICE enforcement training for businesses on Wednesday, Feb. 11 from 12-1 PM.
Now more than ever, it’s important to stay educated and know your rights.”
Rob Menendez has served in Congress since replacing Albio Sires in 2023 as representative of New Jersey’s 8th District. Born in Hudson County in 1985 and currently residing in Jersey City, Menendez holds degrees from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill and Rutgers University-Newark.
