He highlighted that non-essential helicopter traffic exacerbates the situation and called on the Federal Aviation Administration to prioritize passenger and aviation professional safety. “Airspace in NJ and NYC is some of the most congested in the world – made worse by non-essential helicopter traffic in our district. That’s why I’m calling on @FAANews to ensure we’re keeping our passengers and aviation professionals safe.”
Later that day, Menendez criticized funding allocations proposed in a Republican government funding bill. In his tweet from March 11, 2025, he highlighted what he sees as misallocated priorities: ” $10 billion to ICE to fund private detention and attacks on our immigrant friends and neighbors $280 million in cuts to research for critical diseases like Alzheimer’s and cancer Shortchanging veterans and failing to fully fund their healthcare coverage.”
On the same day, Menendez also pointed out specific budget cuts included in the Republican government funding bill. He detailed reductions affecting low-income Americans’ rent subsidies and infrastructure safety projects: “Here’s the truth about the Republican government funding bill. It includes: $700 million in cuts to rent subsidies for low-income and working class Americans $2 billion in cuts to airport, road, railway, and port safety projects.”
