Rep. Rob Menendez, who represents New Jersey’s 8th district in the U.S. Congress, posted a series of statements on September 3, 2025, addressing issues ranging from federal immigration enforcement to congressional censure attempts and local quality-of-life concerns.
In a post at 19:06 UTC, Menendez criticized recent federal spending increases for Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE), stating, “ICE continues to cause irreparable damage in our communities. And Trump’s spending bill quadruples ICE’s budget, giving this federal agency a budget that mirrors that of the 20 largest militaries in the world. I voted NO on this disastrous bill, and I’ll keep fighting”.
Later that evening at 22:27 UTC, Menendez commented on an unsuccessful effort to censure a fellow lawmaker: “While I’m grateful the politically motivated attempt to censure & remove @RepLaMonica from her committee failed today, the fight for justice continues. If Republicans can attempt to silence a Member of Congress, they can do it to anyone. She’s not backing down, and neither am I.”
At 22:57 UTC, Menendez addressed local concerns regarding helicopter noise: “We’re keeping up the pressure on the FAA to address helicopter noise in our community & will continue to do so until they take meaningful action. We consistently hear from our neighbors that this is impacting their quality of life. That’s why we will not relent in this fight.”
Rob Menendez has served as a member of Congress since 2023 after succeeding Albio Sires. He was born in Hudson County, New Jersey in 1985 and currently resides in Jersey City. Menendez holds a BA from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill and a JD from Rutgers University-Newark.
