Rep. Rob Menendez, a U.S. Congressman representing New Jersey’s 8th district since 2023, has used his social media platform to address several issues affecting his community and the nation.
On December 12, 2025, Menendez criticized conditions at privately run ICE facilities, expressing concern for immigrant families. He wrote, “Absolutely shameful and not how our country should be. My heart breaks for the families of every immigrant who died on ICE’s watch this year. Unsafe conditions at privately run, for-profit ICE facilities show a profound disregard for the well-being of our communities.”
The following day, December 13, 2025, Menendez highlighted a positive moment involving local sports teams and healthcare workers. He posted, “Always great to see our very own @NJDevils spreading some holiday cheer at @JCMedCenter—and making a new fan in the process. Proud to see sports bringing our community together.”
Later that same day, Menendez addressed comments made by another member of Congress regarding Muslim communities. He stated, “Congressman Randy Fine’s vile rhetoric against our Muslim communities is deeply disturbing and unacceptable. Our Muslim friends and neighbors uplift our state and our country. All of my colleagues must immediately denounce this Islamophobia and racist behavior.”
Rob Menendez was born in Hudson County, New Jersey in 1985 and currently resides in Jersey City. He earned his undergraduate degree from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill in 2008 and received a JD from Rutgers University-Newark in 2011.
