Rep. Rob Menendez, U.S. Congressman representing New Jersey’s 8th district since 2023, addressed issues related to immigration detention and participated in local Memorial Day commemorations in a series of posts on social media.
On May 29, Menendez commented on the ongoing debate surrounding Delaney Hall, a privately run detention center. He stated, “Republicans are trying to make an issue out of what’s happening outside Delaney because they don’t want to acknowledge what’s happening inside. The more visibility the public gets into these privately run, for-profit detention centers, whatever is left of Trump’s remaining”.
Two days later, on May 31, Menendez posted about his participation in Hoboken’s Memorial Day parade: “Marching in Hoboken’s Memorial Day parade. Great to be a part of Hoboken’s Semiquincentennial Memorial Day parade to honor the memories of our brave service members who made the ultimate sacrifice, as well as our gratitude for their families and all those who served”.
Later that same day, he reiterated his stance on immigration by stating, “We will keep telling the stories of those inside Delaney Hall to counter the Trump Administration’s false narrative of who our immigrant neighbors are.”
Rob Menendez was born in Hudson County, New Jersey in 1985 and currently resides in Jersey City. He holds a BA from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill and a JD from Rutgers University-Newark.
