Rep. Rob Menendez, who has represented New Jersey’s 8th District in the U.S. Congress since 2023, used his social media platform to address concerns over private detention centers and recent developments involving Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE).
On May 13, 2026, Menendez criticized the appointment of a GEO Group executive in a tweet, stating: “Putting a GEO Group executive who has profited off of ICE ripping families apart is just doubling down on a system that prioritizes profits over people.
The following day, on May 14, 2026, Menendez shared news regarding a federal court order related to ICE and an individual named Adriana: “A federal judge has ordered ICE to take all available steps to bring Adriana back to the US!
Later that morning, he posted another message about legislative priorities: “Codify oversight. Protect our communities. https://t.co/G0Ck0GKaYX”.
Menendez, born in Hudson County in 1985 and currently residing in Jersey City, succeeded Albio Sires as the district’s representative beginning in 2023. He holds a BA from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill (2008) and a JD from Rutgers University-Newark (2011). For more information about Rep.
