Rep. Rob Menendez, who represents New Jersey’s 8th district in the U.S. Congress, posted a series of updates on May 16, 2026, highlighting transportation improvements, economic concerns over tariffs, and support for senior citizens in his community.
In his first post of the day, Menendez announced the launch of expanded PATH train service. Later that afternoon, Menendez thanked the New Jersey Performing Arts Center (NJPAC) for hosting a discussion about tariffs and their effects on local communities. On May 16 he stated: “Thank you to @NJPAC for hosting this important roundtable discussion on the impact of tariffs on our communities. While Trump’s tariffs continue to make life more expensive for our families and small businesses, @HouseDemocrats are ready to lower costs and deliver meaningful”
That evening, Menendez highlighted federal funding supporting projects that benefit senior citizens in his district. He wrote on May 16: “This project thanks in part to federal funding allows our seniors to live with dignity in the neighborhoods they’ve given so much to. I’ll always fight for the resources our communities need to stay right here at home. https://t.co/TEZzh6Bxf4”
Rob Menendez has served as U.S. Representative since 2023 after succeeding Albio Sires. Born in Hudson County in 1985 and currently residing in Jersey City, Menendez holds degrees from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill and Rutgers University-Newark.
