Rep. Rob Menendez, a U.S. Congressman representing New Jersey’s 8th district since 2023, used his social media platform on May 15 and 16, 2026, to criticize actions taken by House Republicans and the Trump Administration regarding federal workers and immigration enforcement.
On May 15, Menendez stated in a tweet that “House Republicans blocked my amendment to stop the Trump Admin from punishing VA workers for mourning their colleague, Alex Pretti, who was killed by federal agents in broad daylight. Republicans chose taxpayer-funded intimidation over protecting federal workers.”
Later that day, he addressed a separate case involving deportation: “Judge Leon ordered ICE to take all available steps to return Adriana to the U.S. from the DRC. Adriana should never have been deported. As we expect ICE’s compliance with the court’s order to bring her home, I’ll continue to do everything in my power to ensure her safety.”
On May 16, Menendez continued discussing Adriana’s situation: “Weeks after deporting Adriana to the DRC and after a federal judge ordered for her return, the Trump Administration claims they don’t know where she is. The truth? She is exactly where ICE left her. We’ve been working on this case since day one and we are demanding that ICE”
Rob Menendez has represented New Jersey’s 8th District since replacing Albio Sires in 2023. Born in Hudson County in 1985 and currently residing in Jersey City, Menendez holds a BA from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill (2008) and a JD from Rutgers University-Newark (2011).
