Rep. Rob Menendez, U.S. Congressman representing New Jersey’s 8th district since 2023, used his social media platform to criticize current detention conditions and the policies of the Trump Administration in a series of posts published on May 27 and May 28, 2026.
In a post dated May 27, Menendez invited colleagues to witness conditions at Delaney Hall, stating, “I welcome @SecMullinDHS & our Republican colleagues to come to Delaney with me & see the pregnant women, high schoolers, & grandfathers being detained in abhorrent conditions. They are not criminals. This system is broken, & it runs counter to our values. Our fight continues.”
Later that day, he posted, “You haven’t been to Delaney Hall and it shows.”
On May 28, Menendez addressed broader immigration policy concerns: “The Trump Administration has torn countless families apart and tried to rob us of our humanity. But I refuse to let them. We cannot – and will not – let this Administration define who we are as a country. The fight continues – together.”
Rob Menendez was born in Hudson County, New Jersey in 1985 and currently resides in Jersey City. He holds a BA from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill (2008) and a JD from Rutgers University-Newark (2011). He succeeded Albio Sires as representative for New Jersey’s 8th district in Congress beginning in 2023.
