The New Jersey City University men’s and women’s track and field teams competed at The College of New Jersey Invite and Multi, with several athletes achieving top finishes on Apr. 12.
The event was notable for strong performances that included national rankings in Division III. This highlights the ongoing efforts of NJCU’s athletes to improve their standings both regionally and nationally.
Tonna Ogina won first place in both the high jump, clearing 1.60 meters, and the triple jump with a mark of 11.51 meters, which is ranked tenth nationally among Division III competitors. Reyanna Henderson also stood out by winning the women’s 400-meter race with a season-best time of 57.93 seconds, placing her fifty-eighth in the nation for that event. Henderson also finished fourth in the 200-meter dash with a season-best time of 25.25 seconds, ranking thirty-seventh nationally.
Other notable performances included Raven Orange finishing fifth in the women’s 200-meter dash and seventh in the 400 meters; Lucy Pelaez competing across four throwing events with her best result being twenty-first place in discus; David Dewberry leading NJCU’s men by taking third place in triple jump; and Isaiah Ramirez setting a personal record to finish eleventh in the men’s 800 meters.
Additional results saw Kyanah-Belle Jean-Louis take fifteenth place during preliminaries for the women’s one hundred meter dash, while Johnair Gonzalez participated in two field events for NJCU men’s team.
The outcomes from this meet reflect continued progress by individual team members as they work toward further achievements throughout their outdoor season.
