The New Jersey City University (NJCU) women’s soccer team achieved its third consecutive win with a 5-0 victory over Centenary University on Tuesday at J.E. Reeves Jr. Field in Hackettstown, N.J. This result brings the Gothic Knights’ season record to 6-2, while Centenary falls to 2-4-1.
NJCU dominated possession and outshot Centenary 30-3, including a 17-2 advantage in shots on goal. The Gothic Knights also earned all ten corner kicks during the match.
Five different NJCU players scored in the game. Junior Joselyn Reyes opened the scoring in the 11th minute with her first goal of the season. Senior Jess Digristina added another five minutes later after an assist from senior midfielder Natalia Jaramillo. Sophomore Gabriella Cardona scored her fourth goal of the season just before halftime, assisted by senior Gineth Arias Martinez.
Head coach Anthony Tuesta rotated three goalkeepers during the match, contributing to a combined shutout. Senior Sophia Mannino started in goal, followed by senior Lorraine Valenzuela and freshman Jessica Martin, who recorded two saves late in the game.
In the second half, senior Nyrohah Alvarenga extended NJCU’s lead with her fifth goal of the season and currently leads both her team and the New Jersey Athletic Conference (NJAC) in goals per game. Freshman Aubrey Gulbin scored her first collegiate goal shortly after, again assisted by Arias Martinez.

The Gothic Knights will begin New Jersey Athletic Conference (NJAC) play on Saturday, Sept. 27, when they travel to Montclair State University for a 1:00 p.m. kickoff. NJCU will look to extend its winning streak to four and make a strong statement in its conference opener.”
