The New Jersey City University (NJCU) men’s volleyball team secured a spot in the NCAA Division III Tournament after defeating Baruch College in the CUNYAC Championship, according to an April 13 announcement. The Gothic Knights will compete against Buffalo State in a play-in match scheduled for Thursday at Springfield College in Springfield, Massachusetts.

This achievement is significant as it marks NJCU’s return to the national tournament for the first time since 2021. The team clinched its place by winning three sets to one over Baruch and finishing their conference season undefeated—a first in program history.

The upcoming play-in game presents an opportunity for NJCU to claim its inaugural NCAA Tournament victory. Their previous appearance was five years ago when they lost to No. 11-seeded Wentworth.
