The New Jersey City University (NJCU) men’s volleyball team continued its strong performance in the City University of New York Athletic Conference (CUNYAC), securing straight-set victories over both York College and the City College of New York (CCNY) in a recent trimatch.

In the first match, NJCU defeated York 3-0 with set scores of 25-12, 25-10, and 25-8. The team achieved a .453 hitting percentage. Mikey Harte led NJCU with eight kills, while Alaittim De Leon and Solomon Brown contributed seven and six kills respectively. Nasir Paige recorded four aces, and Erick Bacuilima managed 16 assists.

York was limited to a -.027 hitting percentage with Alexis Ramirez leading his team with seven kills and seven digs. Jesus Gomez added 11 assists for York.

NJCU started the opening set strongly, building an early lead that they maintained throughout. The team continued their momentum into the second set, highlighted by a significant run initiated by De Leon. In the third set, Harte’s efforts helped NJCU secure another dominant run to close out the match.

In the second match against CCNY, NJCU again won in straight sets: 25-12, 25-9, and 25-19. The team posted a .463 hitting percentage with 34 total kills. Brown and Mike McGehee each had seven kills. Alex Casais led with 15 assists, while Marcus Pardasie added four kills—moving him up to eighth all-time at NJCU for career kills.

For CCNY, Gabriel Linus had eight kills and Diangelo Arias tallied 12 digs.

NJCU capitalized on early errors from CCNY to establish control in the first set. After an initial deficit in the second set, NJCU responded with multiple runs to take command. The third set was more competitive as CCNY mounted a late rally before De Leon and Keandre Henderson secured the win for NJCU.

Head coach Carlo Edra commented on the team’s performance: “This trimatch was a big team day. Every single player was able to hit the court and take care of business. March is an important month because it builds momentum for the conference playoffs, and starting with a couple of wins is a good start.”
