The New Jersey City University (NJCU) baseball team lost an 11-5 non-conference game to Stevens Institute of Technology on April 14 at Dobbelaar Baseball Field at the DeBaun Athletic Complex.

The result leaves NJCU with a record of 8-19-1 for the season, while Stevens improves to 19-13. Despite being outhit by Stevens, NJCU took advantage of three errors committed by their opponents and played error-free defense themselves.

Senior Shawn Kish led the Gothic Knights’ offense with two hits in three at-bats, including a double and a career-high four runs batted in. Jeremy Ricourt contributed an RBI and a stolen base, while Frandi Yunior Mosquea Mesa and Mike Novak each recorded steals. On the mound, Collin Elam was charged with the loss after allowing four runs over just over one inning in relief. Starter Dovid Solomon pitched one inning with two earned runs allowed and struck out two batters. The team used several relievers throughout the game.

For Stevens, Dylan Fishbough had three hits and three RBIs while Aaron Wong went four-for-four at the plate. The Ducks collected three doubles, two home runs, and eight stolen bases as a team.

NJCU scored first but could not hold onto its early lead as Stevens came back to tie in the first inning before taking control later in the game. After falling behind for good in the sixth inning following several hits and walks by Stevens batters, NJCU managed only one hit over the final innings.

The Gothic Knights are scheduled to play next on Thursday against Montclair State University in a New Jersey Athletic Conference matchup.
