Julian Hall and Cade Cowell of Red Bull New York were named to Major League Soccer’s Team of the Matchday following their team’s victory over Columbus Crew, according to a May 17 announcement.
This recognition comes after Hall became the youngest player in league history to score a hat trick, leading his team to a 3-2 win. Cowell assisted on the first two goals scored by Hall during the match.
Hall, who is from Manhattan, is now the second fastest player under 25 years old in club history to score at least two goals in two separate matches within a single season. He has achieved this milestone in just 13 matches. Additionally, he recorded his second multi-goal game of the season and third across all competitions this year. At 18 years and 50 days old, Hall is also noted as the fourth-youngest player in Major League Soccer history to score two or more goals in multiple matches during one season. He stands as the seventh-fastest player in club history to reach nine goals scored within a single season.
Cowell contributed his fourth and fifth assists of this Major League Soccer season during Wednesday’s match, tying him for fourth-most assists league-wide so far this year. The winger has made three goal contributions over his last two appearances for New York Red Bulls. The Ceres, California native also recorded his second career multi-assist match for New York and third overall since joining Major League Soccer.
Hall, Cowell, and their teammates are scheduled to play again on Saturday, May 16 at Sports Illustrated Stadium for their second New York Derby matchup of the current season. Kickoff will be at 7:30 p.m., with coverage available on Apple TV as well as Red Bulls Radio through both English-language platforms.
