Hudsonview Health Care Center was recognized as the second largest nursing home in Hudson County for the first quarter of 2026, the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) reported.

The facility offered 273 available beds, which is 112 above the Hudson County average in the same period. During this quarter, the center served an average of 262.4 residents daily.

The CMS gave Hudsonview Health Care Center an overall rating of 5 out of 5, exceeding the New Jersey average of 3.4 for nursing homes.

In comparison, Optima Care Fountains was the largest facility in Hudson County during the quarter with 334 beds. Alaris Health at Hamilton Park was third, with 260 beds offered.

U.S. Census Bureau estimates indicate the nation’s population of older adults continues to rise while the younger demographic declines. Between 2020 and 2024, the population age 65 and up grew by 13%, as those under 18 dropped by 1.7%. The country’s older adult population has expanded significantly over the last century, from 4.9 million in 1920 to more than 61 million by 2024.

Research from 2021 indicates about half of this age group, roughly 28 million people, may eventually need long-term services and supports. More than a third are projected to require nursing home care at some point.

“Living a long life is something that many of us want and could get,” said Jesse Slome, executive director of the American Association for Long-Term Care Insurance, an insurance education organization. “But when we live a long life, the chances of us needing long-term care increase exponentially. But when you need that type of care, there are limited options.”
