WASHINGTON, D.C. – On July 12, the United States House of Representatives passed by unanimous consent an amendment by Congressman Rob Menendez to the FY24 National Defense Authorization Act (NDAA). Congressman Menendez’s amendment would require the United States Department of Defense to connect departing service members to job training opportunities in the cybersecurity field.

“I am proud that my amendment to the NDAA, which helps to enable our departing service members to join our cybersecurity workforce was passed by the House,” said Congressman Menendez. “Our service members are particularly well-positioned to work in the cybersecurity field given their national security background and commitment to protecting our country. This amendment’s bipartisan approval affirms the importance of our work to guard our residents, businesses, and critical infrastructure from cyber threats with our military’s best and brightest.”

The amendment aims to address the U.S.’s cybersecurity workforce shortage by connecting departing service members to the tools they need to begin careers in cybersecurity.

Congressman Menendez serves on the House Committee on Homeland Security, where he is a member of the Subcommittee on Cybersecurity and Infrastructure Protection.
