A conference dealing with domestic violence awareness will take place at the Bayonne Community Museum on Saturday, June 3, from 12:00 noon to 4:00 p.m.  The museum is located at 9th Street and Broadway.  The event is sponsored by Sarah’s Daughters, a Hudson County-based non-profit organization that specializes in increasing public awareness about domestic violence.

Sarah’s Daughters receives a grant from the City of Bayonne to provide services to the community that deal with the issue of domestic violence.  Mayor Jimmy Davis said, “I would like to thank Sarah’s Daughters for organizing this important event.  We recognize that domestic violence is a serious problem and that we need to provide services to those who have been affected by it.”

Municipal Services Director Suzanne Cavanaugh said, “The Bayonne Domestic Violence Task Force is very happy to support Sarah’s Daughter’s in raising awareness and providing a day of healing for those who are working towards a safe and healthy future.  We urge our community to get involved.  Come out and hear how you can help or how organizations such as Sarah’s Daughter’s can help you.  I promise you….you will walk out of there feeling EMPOWERED!”

Rev. Dr. Bertha Reels is the founder and president of Sarah’s Daughters Domestic Violence Awareness foundation operating within Hudson County.  She is also a member of the Bayonne Domestic Violence Task Force.

Due to the uptick in domestic violence within surrounding cities. Sarah’s Daughters will host this domestic violence awareness conference in Bayonne.  Rev. Dr. Reels said, “We invite everyone who is concerned about this issue to attend the conference.  It will provide all participants with useful information for understanding and dealing with domestic violence.”

The conference theme is no more Silence to Domestic Violence a day for Healing the Spirit, Soul and Body.  The conference will feature motivational speakers and interactive activities.

Guest speakers include domestic violence advocate and motivational speaker Detrist Powell, and domestic violence advocates and survivors Kimberly Sarara and Tosha Hogan.

If you are looking for fellowship, healing, and spiritual empowerment, please, call to reserve your seat at 732-318-4116. Seating is limited. Light refreshments will be served.
